The production of milk depends on your baby’s needs and demands. As your baby suckles, the nerve endings in your nipples are stimulated. A message is sent to your brain which causes the production of a hormone called prolactin. This hormone initiates the production of milk in your breasts. The more your baby continues to suckle, the more these hormones are released. More hormones mean more milk production.

The baby’s sucking also stimulates the release of another hormone called oxytocin which causes milk to start flowing out. However, if you lack confidence in your ability to breast feed or are anxious and suffering from stress, this simple natural process will not work! So the answer is to think positive always!
